HAPPY SCRAPPERS GET BUSY

The Happy Scrappers met Wednesday at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above, Marilyn shows us the Retreat bag she was working on that day.  Love that fabric with the cherries.
Adrienne came  in with these trays of fabric all cut and ready to be sewn.
This is the block she made with those fabrics.  What a stunning quilt this will make.
Adrienne also made this very little Sweetpea Pod.  She is making it to hold earrings.
Here the zipper is open.  Look at how small that is!  I'm amazed.  This is so cute!
Cathy was busy making Sweetpea Pods also.  She had made some Bendy Bags to be given as presents and when she discovered what she could do with those leftover pieces, she got busy and made these.
When Diana wasn't busy helping people with their Sweetpea Pods, she was working on her own project.  She is making an Ornament.  The pattern is Holiday Stars by Poor House Designs.
And this is what I worked on.  I had a bag of scraps left from a quilt I made several years ago.  When I saw A Year Of Scrappy Triangles, I had to try the pattern.  They are paper pieced and each triangle is a different pattern.  I had the big circles left over from that previous quilt, so I plan on using them too.  Maybe placing a circle block between each triangle block.  You can see the patterns for the scrappy triangles here.

MAKING SWEATPEA PODS AND CLASS CHANGE

During Craft Day at the Attic Window Quilt Shop, Diana (above) told us not to throw away the half square triangles left over from when we made our Bendy Bag.  She told us we could use those triangles to make the little Sweatpea Pods.  Since Rosa and I didn't have time to make those during Craft day, Diana graciously said she would show us how during Happy Scrappers.  We were grateful and traveled through our first snow to make it to the shop on Saturday.
Above, Rosa shows us her two SweatPea Pods that she made that day.
Diana worked right along with us and above she shows us the four pods that she made.
Above are the Pods that I made.  They are small but will be great for traveling.  I like how you can fit a spool of thread and bobbin into the Pod.  The other one will be filled with Candy nutritious things for my trip.   What is even more important, they were basically free since they were made of left over fabric which would have probably been tossed.  We did have to buy one zipper and an extra pull, but that was practically nothing.  What a fun project.  I bet little kids would find a use for them too.  You can get the pattern at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.
A special thank you to Diana for her excellent teaching.  BTW, Diana's Ornament Placemat Make It Take It class which was scheduled for Monday, Dec. 11, has been moved to Thursday, Dec. 14th.  So you still have time to make this placemat/table topper/wall hanging.  Call the shop to register.

HAVE YOU TRIED THIS ORNAMENT?

 Melanie and
Lois joined me last Wednesday in Marilyn's Ornament Class at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Don't their ornaments look great!
These ornaments were fun to make, but there was a lot of sewing and cutting involved.
 And some turning and sewing.
 And some folding and sewing.
And more folding and sewing.  All in all, it was a fun class and I loved the ornaments we made.
This is the ornament I made.
Marilyn is such a great teacher and made the class so much fun that I had make another one when I got home.  The pattern is Holiday Stars by Poor House Quilt Designs.  It includes directions for both a 6 and 8 point stars for decorating gifts and your house.  You can get it at the Attic Windows Quilt Shop.

DON'T FORGET: Chris has another Make It Take It class on Friday, Dec. 8th.  Join her in using your 60 deg. ruler to make a Christmas Table runner and Table topper.

SCRAPPY AAND BEAUTIFUL

While at the Attic Window Quilt Shop the other day, Chris and Marilyn showed us this beautiful quilt that a customer made.
This is a little closer view.  Kristy P. made this quilt out of scraps left over from a BOM that she took last year at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  I understand that she used the Pineapple Tool to make these blocks.  This quilt is stunning!  And you can say it was free.  I like the sound of that, don't you!

Kristy wasn't at the shop that day.  I hope she doesn't mind that we put it on the blog.  I couldn't resist showing you this beautiful quilt.  Chris said it was okay. 😊
I'm looking forward to taking Marilyn's Make It Take It Ornament class tomorrow.  It's not too late to join us.  The class starts at 11 a.m.

CRAFT DAY AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

It was a fantastic Christmas Craft Day at the Attic Window Quilt Shop this past Friday.  I look forward to this day every year.  Above Diana and Rosa show us the little Sweet Pea Pods they made from left over fabric from our first project.
Our first project was this Bendy Bag.  I got so involved in making the bag that I forgot to take pictures.
Above, Chris shows us these darling Candy coasters which were our next project.
Carol H. is so clever.  She made this one and jazzed it up with a fancy stitch on her machine.  I love it!
Marilyn shows us our next project.  She called it a bread basket but I can see so many uses for it.
Above is Rosa with her project finished.
The pattern for the Nesting Bread Baskets shows it in two different sizes.
Above Chris shows us our next project, Triangle Pocket Ornaments. You can see them in the last photo of my finished projects.  I'm filling them with goodies for my great grandchildren.
Somewhere along the way we stopped for lunch.  Everyone brought a dish to pass and Oh, My was it good.  During lunch Chris gave each of us this tree and some candy.  The tree is actually two fat quarters.  What a nice gift!  Thank you Chris.
Back to work!  We made this adorable Snowman Mat or Wall Hanging.
From the left over fabrics we made the above coaster!
Carol H. also made this darling little heart for her snowman, using the YoYo maker.
Coleen (left) and Jan show us some of their projects they worked on that day.
Barb shows us her Bread Basket.
Sue (left) and Lynn were too busy sewing to hold up their finished projects.  But I think they were having a good time teasing me.  Those rascals wore each other's name tags making me think I'm losing my mind!
Yvonne (left) and Rosa show us their Snowman mats.
Carol H. (left) and Phyllis show us some of their projects.

And I have to show you my projects.  I finished all six projects the next day.
And I still have fabric and projects to complete.  Chris sent us home with fabric for another Candy coaster, a Snowflake Coaster, and the YoYo heart.  Then I had fabric left from the Bread Basket.  Too pretty to toss.  And then there are the pieces left over from the Bendy Bag so I can make the Sweet Pea Pods.  Diana said she would help me with those.

It was a wonderful day and a special Thanks to Chris, Diana, and Marilyn for making kits and spending the day helping us to make these wonderful projects.  I'm not showing my daughter the snowman this year.  We made a different one last year and she snapped it up right away and took it home with her.  LOL  You can read about last year's Craft Day here.
