WARNING! FABRICS HAVE POWER

If you have read this blog before, you probably know that these are not my colors.  However, I must say when I saw Jill unwrapping these bolts of fabric the other day when I was at the Attic Window Quilt Shop, I did a double take.  These fabrics must have some kind of secret power, I uttered to myself.  I found them stunning!  The line is Treenware and Berries by Marcus Fabrics.
Above are the 10" square packets that coordinate with the Treenware and Berries fabrics.
Jill also showed me these new fabrics that just arrived.  The line is Prairie Gathering by Marcus Fabrics.  The 10" square bundles are also available in this line.  Better get into the shop quick to grab some of these luscious fabrics before they are gone, which will probably happen in no time because these fabrics have power!

NOTE:  Yesterday Mary Burton asked if the Fresh Picked Posies BOM is still available.  Yes it is.  You can pick up the pattern at the shop.  You choose your own fabrics.  The group meets on the fourth Tuesday afternoon of the month and anyone is welcome to join us.  I am available to help with applique, demonstrate my freezer paper technique, and choose fabrics.  If you don't need help, feel free to work at your own speed.  Anyway I see it, applique is a fun thing to do and I hope you will join us.

ATTENTION:  The Charity Quilt group will be meeting this Monday at the shop.  They are asking for donations.  If you have UFO blocks, 100% cotton fabric that you know you will never use (you know how our tastes change), incomplete projects (like a quilt top half done), batting, etc., please bring them to the Shop.  This wonderful group of quilters will use them to make much-needed quilts for charity.

ARE YOU A NORTHWOODS KIND OF GAL?

The Appliqué Bee met Tuesday afternoon at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  I don’t have a lot to share, mainly because I got busy talking to all the wonderful quilters who lingered after the Tuesday Morning Bee, and a couple women who had quilts to share scooted out before I got a picture.  However, I did get a picture of what Jane B. is working on.  Above is one of her embroidery blocks.  The name of the pattern is Among the Pines.  It is the second pattern in the Northwoods Memories series.
These are the blocks she has completed so far.  She does beautiful work!
I finished another block for the Fresh Picked Posies BOM.  I placed them all on the board so you can see them together.  I think I’m the only one doing this BOM, but I’m loving it.

TUESDAY BEE HAS QUILTS TO SHARE

Last week when the Tuesday Bee met, Judi A. took pictures and sent them to me.  Above, Julie B. shows us her beautiful quilt.  I’m sorry but I forgot to ask Julie when I saw her today the name of the pattern.
Julie also made this lovely Bargello quilt.  I wonder if she took Vickie Stark’s class?
Gerry made this stunning quilt.
This is a close up of the appliqué center.  Great quilt.

Thank you Judi for sending these pictures.  I love seeing all the beautiful quilts our friends have made.

ATTENTION:  The Charity Quilt group that meets on the first Monday of the month at the shop is asking for donations.  If you have UFO blocks, 100% cotton fabric that you know you will never use (you know how our tastes change), incomplete projects (like a quilt top half done), batting, etc., please bring them to the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  This wonderful group of quilters will use them to make wonderful quilts for charity.

WHO IS LOOKING FOR A NEW PROJECT?

It is such a pleasure walking into the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  One never knows what new projects might be found.  There are always new samples, along with new fabrics and books and patterns.  For instance, when I went into the shop the other day the first thing I saw was this adorable wall hanging.  Above, Lee Anne stands beside this sample she made for the shop.
Above is a closer view.  This pattern and several other seasonal wall hangings can be found in the book Quilted Skinnies for All Seasons by Margie Ullery. I first talked about the book here.  Ask for it at the shop.

A LITTLE FUN SEWING AFTER GIVING TIME

In the last Post I told you about Rosa calling us all into the Attic Window Quilt Shop to make pillowcases which will be given to Safe Haven Ministries.  It wasn't all work that day.  We had some fun too.  Above, Rosa shows us how to make a coaster.  You can find more information about it here.
Above is the one that I made from some scraps I had on hand.
Misti couldn't join us that day, but she did send me a picture of a coaster she had made after seeing the previous post where Rosa gave us a little tutorial.
Judi A. showed us how to make this darling coaster using a hexagon design.  Can't wait to try that.
Judi also showed us this stunning Trip Around the World quilt that she had just finished.
This is a close up of the center of Judi's quilt.
Yvonne showed us her finished Sew Together Bag.
Above, you can see the inside of Yvonne's bag.  Love those fabrics.
After Rosa made a few pillowcases, she worked on this block.  It is for the Mod Squad BOM.  Rosa was on a cruise the month that we made this block.  Don't you just love those fabrics!

ROSA CALLS A CHARITY DAY

Recently Rosa called quilters to gather at the Attic Window Quilt Shop for a Pillowcase Charity Day.  Everyone brought fabric to make pillowcases which will be given to Safe Heaven Ministries, a confidential emergency shelter available for women and their children. Above, Rosa shows us fabric and kits that she brought for us to use, in case we ran out of what we brought and needed more.
We got down to business right away.  Above, Chris gives us a demonstration of a quick way to make the pillowcases.  With this method, all the seams are encased.
Above, Chris shows us how to roll the fabric and get it ready to sew the first seam.
I got my first pillowcase finished and asked Rosa to hold it for me so I could get a picture.
Val shows us her finished pillowcase.
Diana made two pillowcases.  Above is her first one.
Yvonne shows us her pillowcase.
Lee Anne shows us her pillowcase.
Vickie S. made two pillowcases.
This is Judi's pillowcase in process.  She had to bug out for a little while to get her hair cut.
Shirley stopped by to attend another meeting today which, unknown to her, had been cancelled.  Above, she shows us the apron that she has been working on.  It is made from a man's shirt. Shirley said that she saw one at a Craft Fair and decided she could make one too.
Shirley decided stay and help out sewing pillowcases since Rosa had brought extra fabric.  Above is Shirley's finished pillowcase.
Above are the pillowcases we made today, minus two.  Val took hers home to fix something and Rosa didn't get hers finished as she was busy with other things.  More about that on Monday!

The Monday Charity group of quilters will use them to make beautiful quilts for charity.

MORE SHARING AND CARING

The Mod Squad met Wednesday at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Since Cathy has been doing a lot of curve piecing lately, I asked her if she would give us a demonstration.  She graciously accepted.  Above left, Rosa, watches as Cathy shows her how to cut out the freezer paper template which Cathy generously provided for us.
Then Cathy gave us lots of tips on how to carefully cut the curve part of the block.
And she gave us some tips on her technique for sewing a curve.
Rosa and Diana show us their completed blocks.
Judi is still looking through her pile of Civil War fabrics to see if she has something for a "modern" block.
This is Cathy's finished block that she made as a sample for us.
Above is my finished block.  I would have preferred a circle something like Diana and Rosa made, however, as you may have heard, I lack in piecing skills and I couldn't get the edges to match so I just rearranged my design.  I think it will work, don't you?
Each month we've been putting our blocks on our bulletin board.  This is sure to make an interesting quilt, don't you agree?

I've had to make this short and sweet today as I had things to do.  Carter (my 6 year old great grandson) spent the evening with me.  I had no idea there were so many super hero's that I have not heard of. I wish I knew how they got some of that power!  I could sure use some of about now!

WHAT A CLASSY BAG FOR A BAG LADY

Diana held a Glam Shell bag class this past Thursday night at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above is her sample bag.
Since I couldn’t make it to the class, I asked her to send me pictures.  Diana said, “Not everyone quite finished but here are two that did. The first is Peggy's inside...”
...and the outside of Peggy's bag."  Stunning.
 This next one is Bonnie's.
Above is the inside of Bonnie's bag.  Love these fabrics!

Diana said, “I was able to specially source extra small hardware to work with the 1/2" straps for my students and am quite please with their results.”

Thanks Diana for sharing these pictures with us.  I love this bag and especially like the strap on this one.  Diana is having another Glam shell class on Friday, May 1 and another on Monday, May 11. Both are from 10 am-4 pm.

A LITTLE WIGGLY WHIMSY

A year or so ago Terry’s Treasures had a sew-along.  I participated and guess what?  I finally finished the quilt!  If I recall correctly the pattern is Wiggly Whimsy and was free on Moda Bake Shop.  I first posted about it here and here.  I can't believe I started this two years ago!
I’m glad I finally finished it and like the crisp look of the white with all those little colors.  Terry is having another sew along this year.  Check out her blog here.  I wanted to participate in this one but knew I didn’t have the time.  Maybe someday as I really like the pattern she has chosen.
This is a close up so you can see my quilting.  I have to be honest with you.  I finished this a little over a week ago.  I'm not getting much done this week as my allergies are giving me headaches.  I can't believe this.  I've never had allergies before and now that I'm an old lady, these past three years I've been having allergy problems.  You know what they say...it's no fun getting old.  Then of course, my brother always reminds me to, "consider the alternatives."  He's right, so I'm going to go for a walk and count my blessings.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

DON’T FORGET
  • SALE ALL THIS WEEK!
